Fitness Update | Blam Bombshell Fitness

Work, family, life, working out....how do you balance it all?

Over the past few months I have been training for a qualifying duathlon race that will put me back onto team Canada and allow me to compete at the 2017 World Duathlon Championships. My training has been a constant roller coaster fill with serveral set backs.

My training might seem very different from most duathlets. As a Beachbody coach I strongly believe and has seen amazing results with these programs when it comes to increasing my fitness and leg strength running/biking. Because of this I use a combination of Beachbody programs, interval running, long distance running and biking to train for my duathlon.

But how do you balance it all? In spring I left my job and became a full time Beachbody coach, which has been a dream come true and blessing....but as I have found out very quickly that working from home is no piece of cake. I'm easily distracted and still somehow manager to run out of time in my day without getting a workout in.

In addition to that this is our first summer in our new house...what does that mean? So many house projects I've lost count. Because we decided to build our first home nothing is completed on the exterior of our home. That means everything from landscaping, fence building, deck painting, ect had to be completed. My husband and I have been very busy in our yard every single day trying to accomplish these tasks - it's been taking up most of our time.

With that being said I am still pushing forward and training like mad! I only have about 42 days left until qualifying! Crazy....my summer has just flown by.

My plan for the next 42 days - be as organized as possible. In order to keep myself on track I'm having to keep myself accountable. That means making a very strict schedule and making myself stick to it! My schedule includes when I'm going to workout, shower, work my at home business, clean, spend time with my family, ect. It means no more slacking off and getting down to business! This next 42 days is really going to test myself to see how bad do I really want this?

I truly believe that if you want something bad enough you will find a way to make it happen.

I know that balancing it all is so difficult. Trust me I've been there this summer. Trying to jungle home projects, working from home, family, working out, ect....things have slipped through the cracks. I haven't been happy about it but sometimes these things happen.

So what's the plan for this upcoming week? Well I'm just coming back from a knee injury...nothing major I just had a fluke accident where I twisted my knee running home night. I've gave it a weekend off and now I'm back training without missing a beat!

This upcoming week I'm planning on doing a Beachbody workouts every single day....time to step it up! I'll be running three times this week - one interval run with 400m intervals, one tempo run and one long run. Plus I'll be going out twice on my bike. One time will be 1min intervals with high cadence for one hour and the second time will be a long ride that will take about one and a half hours for endurance.

The week after that will be a similar training schedule except instead of running 400m intervals I will be running 200m intervals....I have to say I love shorter intervals, it means I get to fly and running a super fast pace! I have to admit I have a soft spot for sprinting since I was a track and field sprinter from grade 6-12.

Wish me luck and make sure you hit that subscribe button if you want to be notified when I post my next fitness update!

June Life Update | Ms Pam Blam & Blam Bombshell Fitness

Hey!

It's been a while since my last life update, June has been just a roller coaster ride of fun, stress and home projects.

If you saw my Facebook or Instagram post from today, I mentioned that I've missed a lot of my workouts this month.

The weather here finally cleared up and my husband & I took advantage of that to start building our fence. This is our first summer in our new house and there are a ton of outside projects we want to get done...but number one on the list was to get our fence up. What we thought would be a simple weekend project turned into a month long project. Let me tell you putting up a 54 foot fence was no picnic. It was a TON of manual labor and being a non stereotypical housewife I pitched in as much as my husband did when it came down to the actual work.

I feel that being a non stereotypical housewife gets me a lot of weird stares thrown my way when we're out working in our yard. People find it very hard to believe that I pitch in as much as I do when it comes to hard manual labor but it just how I was raised...everyone pitches in and helps when it comes to big projects like that.

Our fence is about 90% done, there are a few final touches we need to put on it.

The days that we spend on the fence were long and exhausting. There were many times that I would collapse at the end of the day into bed and fall asleep for a good 12 hours. Working out was out of the questions. But now that we are wrapping up the project I am getting back into the swing of things!

You would also know if you follow me on Facebook that my home business with Beachbody has been very quit. There have been little to no posts on my page and that's of course because my time has been directed else were...but I'm back now! Super excited to gear up my business and run some new online fitness groups!!

Big things are going to be happening in July! It's hard to believe that June is already over but July has to be my favorite month of the year. It's the month that I got married, it's my birthday month, the weather is always hot, there are a ton of festivals and events to go to, plus it's a great time to take summer vacation!

Leave in the comments below...what are you looking forward to in July?

7 Things Marriage Has Taught Me

1) Your a team but teamwork takes practice
In a marriage you have to work together, together you are stronger and will accomplish more. But like any team sometimes you have to practice working together. As much as I would love to say that working together comes naturally once your married - unfortunately it doesn't.

2) Communication is key
I don't know about your house....but my husband & I like to stay very busy and active. This means that I might not see my husband all day everyday so we have to communicate and let the other person know what's going on, where we are, who's responsible for making dinner that night, who's going to make sure they stop by the bank and pay the bills on time, who's going to be at home waiting for service call, ect. The only way a busy household can function effectively is if you communicate with each other.

3) Date night is still important
This is something that I like is so important. If your house is like ours and you are busy, busy, busy, it's good to take a night off together and go on a date night. It doesn't have to cost you a lot of money. Just staying in and having one person cook a romantic meal followed by a walk is nice. Sometimes you have to put the pause button on life and reconnect with your significant other. Catch up with them and ask how has their week been. Help them resolve any issues they may have stumbled across and praise them for all the hard work they've put in. I feel like some couples miss this step and they are so busy and wrapped up in what they are doing they sometimes forget to connect with their partner which can cause issues down the road.

4) Fight fair
Every couple has fights....if anyone claims they don't fight with their significant other than they are lying. A lot of couples fight differently, I know when I fight with my husband we don't tend to yell or throw things. We fight pretty civil but sometimes we get very heated and passionate about what we are fighting about and very hurtful words will come out of our mouths that we really don't mean. When you get into a heated argument present your side and why you are so passionate about it but also let your partner express their side. No one can win all the time - remember to compromise. If you find yourself at a dead end agree to take a 5min break - take a break and revisit the argument, sometimes you just need a few min to think about it and come up with an alternative solution

5) Show your appreciation
You are in this marriage together. It's nice to be appreciated for your hard work and effort so if you want your appreciation acknowledged then show your appreciation for your partner. Thank them for the little things they do that contribute to your household. Anything from picking up milk, unloading the dishwasher, mowing the lawn, washing your car, vacuuming, ect.

6) Life sometimes doesn't go as planned
I feel like this is the universes cruel joke. I feel like every time I make a plan something happens to derail us. Our vehicle brakes down, someone gets sick, the weather doesn't cooperate, the event we were going to gets cancelled. I guess after having an unpredictable life like ours you learn to let things go and try to laugh about it - I mean what else am I supposed to do? The old version on myself would have breakdown when plans fell through - the new me lets the little things go and moves with the flow. Instead of dwelling on the bad I try to problem solve and figure out what to do instead.

7) Support your spouse for who they are
My husband is who he is, I can't change that and nor would I want to. I feel in love with him for who he is and not who I wanted him to be. Yes he does things that annoy me....I'm sure I do many things that annoy him too...but those little things are part of the package and I love him for who he is. I feel that is it very important to support your spouse for who they are. Any goals or life dreams they have should be encouraged - never screw up your nose at your spouses dream no matter how out there their goals may be.

March Favorites 2016

March was a great month for me! I've finally be able to kick my February cold and fell normal again. A lot happen in March that kept me busy, In about mid March I decided to make a big change and go from my dark brown hair to medium blonde! Because of that change I discovered some new hair products, one makeup product and one skincare product. All of which I feel in LOVE with.

First off I discovered the One 'N Only Argain Oil fro Sally's Beauty. This is a 12 in 1 daily treatment to help repair and strengthen your hair. After stripping my hair to go blonde it was very damaged. I needed something to put moisture back into my hair and make it strong again. Just using this oil in one week I noticed a BIG difference. This is a great oil for extremely dry and damaged hair.

I noticed that since going blonde I have been using more oil which weights down my hair. I was looking for something to give my hair some life back. I picked up the Kendra Dry Texture Spray from Chatters. This is great for giving my hair back some life and texture to style it but still allow me to use my oil treatments.

It's no secret....many people are starting to avoid washing their hair everyday, It' supposed to be better for your scalp and allow for your natural hair oils to stay in your hair and make it healthier. I can't go everyday without washing my hair so I've now discovered dry shampoos. Because I had dark brown hair I need a dry shampoo that didn't leave a white cast....a lot I didn't like tinted shampoos because I find it would get on my hands and get all over the place! On the other hand I've tried some dry shampoos that make my hair felling more dirty....yuck! I really disliked this felling. I picked up the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo, this is amazing! By far it's my favorite shampoo, it make my hair feel clean, fresh, and soft. Then I use Pureology Fresh Approach Dry Condition that I use the the mid shaft and ends. It just allows me to run a brush through my second day hair and refresh the bottom bits of my hair that got tussled while I was sleeping. This by far is the best second and third day combo I've been able to find.

This is a new foundation I've tried in March, this is the Becca Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme. This is a great foundation for dry skin, it blends so well, sits on the skin and looks natural. Plus I love that it lasts all workday and gives me really full coverage. This gets a big thumbs up from me...it might be my new holly grail foundation.

Finally is a skincare product. This at first looked very odd and I wasn't sure if I would like this, but all I needed to do was to try it once and I was hooked. This is the Boscia Charcoal Pure Pudding Intensive Wash Off Treatment. It's an interesting mask that is a swirl of white and black charcoal, I Snapchat [mspamblam] when I first bought it and showed the cool design it has when you first get it. I noticed that after I use this mask my foundation goes on flawlessly the next day! My skin felt amazing and it just looked better (even when I had no makeup on). Right now I've been using this about once and week and my skin is LOVING it.

What did you discover in the month of March? I would love to know what products you've been loving, please leave them in the comments below.

Product Empties March 2016 | Skincare Empties

My trash is getting full!!! Time to bust out another products empties. I noticed that a lot of my product empties was skincare this past month...which means it's been a very expensive month of repurchasing new skincare items. I feel like the old I get the more and more I want to invest in my skin and keep it healthy and glowing.

Fist up is a shampoo from Sephora, this is the Texas Tea shampoo and conditioner. This is advertised as a voluminous product but I found it really weighted down my hair. As you can see I didn't even use the product up fully, there is still a little left in the bottom. I couldn't wait to get rid of this shampoo and move onto something new.

Next up is a drugstore body oil, this one is Neutrogena Body Oil. I really enjoy putting body oils in my bath and this is one that I've gone through many, many bottles of. It has a great smell and the price is very reasonable. Right now I haven't repurchased another one because I'm using up my Palmer's Moisturizing Body Oil.

This is by far my favorite eye cream I've tried so far. This is the Shiseido Wrinkle Resist 24, it is a pretty thick cream but it's gotten rid of all my fine lines and wrinkles I was starting to get under my eyes. I use this twice a day and in pretty generous portions. It's on the pricey side but definitely worth the money. I've already repurchased another one.

Before I discovered the Shiseido eye cream I was using the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Eye Cream. This is also a good eye cream but it is a little more light weight. Great if you're in your early 20's. I haven't repurchased this product since discovering the Shiseido eye cream.

Another Shiseido product, this is the Shiseido Wrinkle Resist 24 Night Cream. This is a very moisturizing night cream and I've gone through 2 of these. However, I wont be repurchasing this because I've been testing out some new night oils that I like a lot better for my dry skin.

Speaking of oils, this is the CoverFX Customer Infusion Drops. This is a great face oil to either mix into your moisturizing or foundation. I typically like to add this to my moisturizer during the day when my skin is feeling extra dry. It's a great oil and I will have one in my daily routine I'm trying to use up.

It's been a long time since I've had Estee Lauder skincare products in my routine. When I started to invest into my skincare everything used to be Estee Lauder. Then I branched out and found that there were other amazing products beside Estee Lauder and I really haven't gone back to this brand. I deiced to give one of their eye makeup removers a shot but to be honest I was really disappointed with it. First off this doesn't remove mascara very well and I found it didn't last very long. I have since moved onto something else.

This product has shown up in several empties posts. This is my favorite deodorant and I've been wearing it for years. I work out A LOT so having a good deodorant is very important to me. I can't even count how may of these I've gone through. I've already repurchased a replacement.

On a whim I decided to try some Sephora skincare products. Sephora skincare products are very reasonably priced and surprising work great! I switched my day time moisturizer to the Sephora Instant Moisturizer and I honestly don't want to try anything else. This is great for really dry skin and makeup goes over top of this moisturizing effortlessly. I've already bought a replacement for my skincare routine.

Another Sephora skincare product and another love of mine. This is the Sephora Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying, I use this either as a spot treatment or as a full on mask.  This product isn't acually empty there is still some left but it's dried up so I've bought a new one to replace it. This mask is so affordable and I've had it almost a year! Great value for your dollar and works amazing. My skin has been so clear since I gave up using drugstore masks and switched to this one.

You may have seen this product in a previous empties post as well. This is the Neostrata Lash Enhancer Serum, another great product but very expensive. This makes your lashes look thicker and longer but it's also a product you have to continually use or you'll loose the thickness and volume.

Finally I used up all my Shiseido Wrinkle Resist 24 Eye Masks. This is the very first eye mask I've ever tried and loved them! You get 12 eye masks in this set which I though was very reasonable and I've already repurchased another pack. I found that this really moisturized and smoothed out my under eyes. I typically use them when I'm doing a face mask so about once a week I would use these.

That's it for my empties. What products did you use up this month?
